The Third Annual Heritage Preservation Symposium, is currently being planned and will be held on Saturday, 14 September 2019. Again the event will feature three diverse perspectives, this time the topic will concentrate on our forebearer’s journeys to Kentucky.
This year's speakers include:
Lea Lane, Curatorial Assistant, Decorative Arts and Design at the Cincinnati Art Museum.
Ms. Lane will be speaking on the importance of the William Tylee Ranney painting of “Boone’s Party,” owned by the Duncan Tavern Historical Center.
Mel Hankla, a collector, researcher, speaker and writer of Kentucky’s heritage and an authority on the history surrounding the Kentucky Long-rifle.
Mr. Hankla will feature the Stoner rifle, also owned by the DTHC.
Lynne Hollingsworth, former chairman of the Duncan Tavern Historic Center and retired Manuscripts Archivist for the Kentucky Historical Society.
Ms. Hollingsworth will be talking on the DTCH’s newly discovered rare print of Victor Collot’s “Upsidedown Map of Kentucky.”
